Not So Good Life of the Colonial Goodwife (Adult) 12/6 @ 6:30 PM

December 6 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Discover what life was really like for New England’s colonial women as you hear how they dealt with menstruation, sex and birth control, childbirth, sickness, and medicine. “The Not-So-Good Life of the Colonial Goodwife” is not about quilting bees and spinning wheels – it’s an interactive presentation about the little-known issues faced by everyday women during this time. Even history buffs will learn a thing or two during this fascinating and amusing presentation.

Presenter Velya Jancz-Urban is a teacher, author, former Brazilian dairy farm owner, and expert on New England’s colonial women. Moving into a 1770 Connecticut farmhouse ignited Velya’s interest in the colonial era. While researching her novel, Acquiescence, she became fascinated with the lives of everyday colonial women.
