WWI: 1918 The Year of Decision (Adult & YA) 10/30 @ 6:30 PM
October 30 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pmFree
As 1918 began, The Great War had raged for 3.5 years. Germany and the Central Powers were facing starvation due to the effects of the Allied blockade. For the Allies, Russia was out of the war, the British, Italian and French armies were exhausted and it would take months before the effects of the new American army would be felt on the battlefield. Local historian Chris Bielik will discuss the German army’s last great push to win the war in the spring of 1918 and the political choices made in response which led to the signing of the Armistice on November 11, 1918.
